The United Hmong with Disabilities (UHD) is a national disability organization with a mission to build a movement within the Hmong community to create a future that is inclusive of Hmong people with disabilities. UHD’s goals are to address and dismantle ableism in the Hmong community; amplify the voices of Hmong people with disabilities; create awareness of issues faced by people with disabilities and promote inclusion. The UHD Associate Director Position
Reporting to the Executive Director, the UHD Associate Director is a new position that will play a key role in supporting the United Hmong with Disabilities in executing key leadership, programmatic, fundraising, impact, and evaluation goals for Hmong people with disabilities in the United States. While this position will require administrative tasks to start, there will be significant opportunity to be coached and mentored by the current Executive Director to lead the organization in six months as the next Executive Director. The person who takes on this role will also have a lot of room for creativity and can influence what systems and structures can be created for the entire organization to be successful.

This role requires someone who is a fast learner, who is excited about being part of a small but dynamic team, and who wants to advance in the field of nonprofit while positively impacting social change in the Hmong disability community. This person will be working with a team that is deeply committed to social impact and disability justice. We welcome candidates who have a deep passion for that same purpose. A strong candidate for this role will already have project management and communication experience in impact and evaluation, narrative change, or systems change work.

This is a full-time exempt (40 hours/week) remote position based in St. Paul, MN. Salary will be commensurate with experience and the range is $45,000-$50,000. Candidate expects to work Monday to Friday with flexible hours and some weekend hours and/or evenings are required. Benefits include paid vacations, paid holidays, sick days and reimbursement for health care, phone usage and mileage.

- Monthly or bi-monthly support groups for Hmong people with disabilities
- National Hmong Disability conference
- UHD’s major partnerships and collaborations with other communities and funders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership and Program Support:
- Provides administrative support to the Executive Director, Board members, consultants, project teams and volunteers including meeting arrangements, general administrative projects, and research, and organizing meetings, process flows, and calendars as needed.
- Collaborate with the Board, Executive Director and key staff to advance strategic plan and goals and ensure program areas are aligned with strategic plan.
- Implement strategic plan, integrating all aspects of the organization’s work including programs, communications, development, and finance.
- Manage and coordinate programs including grant reports and evaluations.
- Working with the Executive Director, create, maintain, and/or oversee systems and processes to ensure effective management of the daily operations of program staff and an organizational structure that supports the organization’s goals.
- Facilitate Staff Team meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- As needed, serve as an ambassador for externally at events and/or in support of fundraising initiatives.
- Coordinates special projects and other duties as assigned.
Grants and Financial Management:
- Write grants and manage the grant process including grant reporting
- Manage all fundraising events
- Manage all donation sources and special fundraising efforts
- Cultivate relationships with funders
- Manage grants and organization budgets with Executive Director
- Manage QuickBooks online with Executive Director
Staff Management:
- Lead and manage all programmatic and operations staff and activities to effectively meet organizational and program goals, ensuring integration across all areas and programs.
- Coordinate with Executive Director to communicate the organization’s vision, priorities and goals, and ensure staff/volunteers are working towards said goals and priorities.
- Develop program impact metrics consistent with relevant plans and create a system of ongoing evaluation, ensuring strong work plans and alignment between individual, team, and organizational goals and priorities.
- Supervise, coach, and collaborate with program staff to ensure programmatic and team success, as well as to support the team’s ongoing professional development and growth.
Communications and Marketing
- Develop and implement the communications and marketing strategy with support from volunteers. This includes managing the following: Newsletter, Email communications, Website, Social Media and Publications.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public relation, marketing communication and/or 2-5 year’s relevant experience; interest in nonprofit organizations and philanthropy; previous experience in nonprofits a plus.
- A person with a disability with a strong understanding of disability justice framework
- Bilingual in English and Hmong (written Hmong is a plus)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Ability to travel locally and around the country as required
- Have own car and valid driver’s license including car insurance for outreach activities and other program activities
- Growth mindset; provides and receives feedback and guidance to and from others respectfully and skillfully

- Proficient with database software, website tools (WordPress, MailChimp etc.) and in Microsoft
- Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Office 365
