About the WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative
The WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative was established in 2022 to provide technical and marketing support to Hmong flower and vegetable farmers in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties, WA so they can keep their farming operations viable and profitable.
The Hmong Farm Manager Position
HAW is looking for a flexible, creative and passionate Farm Manager who thrives on wearing multiple hats, can take initiatives and work independently to join our small but growing team! This is a new full-time position, and an opportunity to directly and deeply impact the growth of the organization and the lives of Hmong farmers. The Farm Manager is responsible for managing the WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative for the Hmong flower and vegetable farmers in WA state. This position will work directly with HAW executive director, collaborative partners and the WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative to provide outreach and technical assistance in Hmong/English to Hmong farmers including but not limited to business planning, marketing, financial assistance, business coaching, navigating government resources and info on grants and loans. This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking over difficult terrain and on farm sites, lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional travel and frequent evening and weekend work.

This is a full-time exempt (40 hours/week) remote position based in Seattle, WA. Salary will be commensurate with experience and the range is $55,000-$60,000. Candidate expects to work Monday to Friday with flexible hours and some weekend hours and/or evenings are required. Benefits include paid vacations, paid holidays, sick days and reimbursement for health care, phone usage and mileage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management
- Actively recruit and outreach to Hmong farmers to join the WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative
- Manage and build the infrastructure of the WA Hmong farmers cooperative
- Builds relationships with and provides excellent customer service to a wide range of stakeholders including Hmong farmers, collaborative partners, elected officials, volunteers, businesses and community members.
- Coordinate neighborhood sales and CSA for the WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative.
- Provides outreach and technical assistance in Hmong/English to farmers including but not limited to business planning, Marketing, financial assistance, business coaching, navigating government resources and info on grants and loans.
- Conduct farm visits to understand farmers’ business structure and other small farm planning and technical education.
- Collaborate with Northwest Agriculture Business Center and HAW’s other partners to present at meetings, workshops, tours and educational opportunities, as needed.
- Prepare reports and documents activities, program progress, and accomplishments as directed.
- Participate in regular training opportunities to maintain a high level of proficiency.
- Attends public meetings as a representative of the WA Hmong Farmers Cooperative.
- Supervise other volunteers, interns, HAW youth and/or project contractors on specific projects.
- Coordinates and implements other projects as assigned by the Executive Director
Grants and Financial Management:
- Write grants and manage the grant process including grant reporting
- Manage all donation sources and special fundraising efforts
- Cultivate relationships with funders, City and State officials
- Manage grants and organization budgets with Executive Director
Communications and Marketing
- Develop and implement the communications and marketing strategy with support from volunteers. This includes managing the following: Newsletter, Email communications, Website, Social Media and Publications.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public relation, marketing communications and/or 2-5 year’s relevant experience; interest in nonprofit organizations and philanthropy; previous experience in nonprofits a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Hmong (written Hmong is a plus)
- Farming experience a plus
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Have own car and valid driver’s license including car insurance for outreach activities, farm visits and other program activities
- Growth mindset; provides and receives feedback and guidance to and from others respectfully and skillfully

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, with customer service and professionalism; able to work with different layers of management and staff
- Proficient with database software, website tools (WordPress, MailChimp etc.) and in Microsoft
- Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Office 365
